Did you know water prevents as well cures diseases? This is done through a therapeutic method of drinking water, which is popularly known as Japanese water therapy or Ayurvedic water therapy. Water therapy is not a modern invention, and has been there since time immemorial.


You might find it a little hard to believe that just drinking water can cure diseases. But, my family members have benefited from it, time and again. They highly recommend it for anyone and everyone looking to stay disease-free and energetic for life. With that said, here is what I'll be covering in this article.....

WHAT IS WATER THERAPY?


Water therapy is a process of removing toxins from the body by drinking large amounts of water, daily morning, on an empty stomach. It is an essential part of nature therapy, used to cure diseases, ranging from simple ailments like headache to complex diseases like diabetes and hypertension. Although it is called a therapy, it can still be followed for lifetime without any known side effects.


 

HOW TO START WATER THERAPY?

The therapy involves drinking 1.25 litres, that is 5 glasses (1 glass = 250 ml) of water right after waking up. But, drinking 5 glasses of water can be very difficult in the beginning. Especially, if you don't already have the habit of drinking water first thing in the morning. So, start by drinking a glass of water every morning after waking up. Increase by 1 glass of water after every 5 days, till you reach 5 glasses. If you still can't drink 5 glasses, then drink at-least 3 glasses of water (that's what I do). A little jogging, walking around or mild exercise makes it easier to drink so much water. Additionally, it also helps wash away toxins from the large intestine. Those who are too sick to exercise can do some deep breathing or light pranayama.


At first, you might experience loose motions and frequent urination for an hour or so. But don't worry, these symptoms will disappear after 3 or 4 days. Also, if you have a tendency to vomit, then do so. Try not to take any medicine for these symptoms. Medicines will suppress the beneficial actions that the therapy has on your body.


It is better to drink water that has been boiled the previous night. This process of boiling and cooling the water, kills the bacteria and lets the harmful metals in the water settle down at the bottom of the vessel.


 

BENEFITS OF WATER THERAPY


Water therapy removes toxins i.e, accumulated waste matter from our organs, dissolves undigested fat anywhere in the body (including blood), increases blood circulation & hydrates the body. These actions, in turn help the large intestine absorb nutrients properly, rejuvenate the kidneys, regulate the digestive system, purify blood, reduce body heat, and restore lost resistance and stamina. This therapy is said to cure headache, obesity (especially belly fat), hypertension, anemia, general paralysis, rheumatism, arthritis, cough, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, meningitis, chronic gastritis, rectal prolapse, constipation, piles, diabetes and much more.


 

MY GRANDFATHER'S SUCCESSFUL HEALING


I know, some of you might still find it is hard to believe that simply drinking water could have so many benefits. That's why let me tell you a short story of my grandfather's experience with water therapy. At age 82, my grandfather had high blood pressure and severe knee pain. Once, he happened to read a book on Water therapy. He immediately started following it daily, along with his usual routine of light exercise and pranayama. Within 3 to 4 months his blood pressure was normal and he stopped taking tablets for it. His knee pain had gone completely. He could then very easily walk for at least 2 km. He continued this therapy till he died of natural causes at age 84.


My father has also followed it from time to time. Once, he even cured food poisoning with this therapy (combined with applying abdominal mud pack). Within an hour, his symptoms were almost gone. Apart from this, some of our acquaintances have lost stomach fat, cured chronic gastritis and obesity.


DO'S & DON'TS TO KEEP IN MIND !

Important stuff >>
  • Don't have any food (not even tea or coffee) for at least 1 hr after drinking the water.

  • Make sure not to drink any water till 1 hr after meals.

  • Do not eat anything at least 1 hr before sleeping.

  • During therapy period, avoid oily foods and fast food. Eat simple home cooked meals and stay active (at least 30 min walk daily).

  • Children and those with kidney problems should not do water therapy. In general, if you have any doubt about this therapy, then please consult a naturopath before starting this.


 

HOW LONG SHOULD YOU FOLLOW IT ?


The minimum therapy period for common health problems :

  • Gastritis, high BP & diabetes - 7 days

  • Constipation - 1 day

  • Stomach ache - 3 days

  • Chronic conditions - continue till you reach normal health.

  • Aged people with arthritis & rheumatism should follow this twice a day for minimum 1 week.

According to experts, you can follow it for

lifetime in combination with a healthy lifestyle, to live a long and disease-free life. If you still don't believe in this therapy, then I suggest you at least give it a try. You might come to believe in it's wonders. Here's a short video on the topics covered in this article :
